In April 2023, Ohio became the 50th State to consider strangulation as a felony.  This brings much needed education for law enforcement on not only the ORC codes related to this issue but the signs and symptoms of this potentially life-threatening crime.   It's vital for officers to gain knowledge about conducting interviews with individuals involved in such cases, as well as the correct procedures for documenting and preserving evidence related to this offense.

Learning Objectives

Objective #1: Understand ORC 2903.18 Strangulation
Objective #2: Recognize and understand the signs and symptoms of strangulation victims
Objective #3: Document the collecting of evidence with domestic violence cases
Objective 4: Interviewing Victims of Domestic Violence

Nursing:

Attendees will have an increased knowledge of the new strangulation law in Ohio and the value of forensic documentation for the legal system.
